Another fair has come and gone but the memories and experiences will last a lifetime. Putting on an event of this magnitude, is the work of many individuals, many hours of planning and sheer "sweat and tears." I am truly grateful to everyone who contributed, be it with time or money, in making this year’s fair a great success. With the help of these individuals and organizations we were able to continue the tradition of bringing you “The Best Little Fair in Texas.”
I’d like to thank and congratulate all of the queen & youth pageant contestants, our 2010 Zapata County Fair Parade Marshall Leslie Gutierrez, exhibitors and everyone who participated in this year’s fair. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you have contributed to the Zapata County Fair. Thanks to all the sponsors and buyers like Conoco Philips, L&F Distributors, Southern Distributors, U.S. Border Patrol Zapata Sector and Chesapeake Energy . Without your monetary contributions our fair would not be possible.
I am truly grateful to Sheriff Sigi Gonzalez and Captain Aaron Sanchez and all their deputies for all the hard work in helping The Fair. Also thanks to IBC Zapata and Med Loz Lease Service for organizing the buyer’s social and auction, The Mariachi Halcon Booster Club and Zapata High School’s One Act Team for all their help and of course to all the 4H Club members and parents, who make The Fair possible.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of the committees who vested countless hours and restless nights into making this year’s fair a great success. Though the fair typically runs only a couple of weeks, it takes a whole year’s worth of planning and I just want you all to know that your hard work and dedication was truly and sincerely appreciated. Many thanks to these individuals: Rosendo “Lupe” Canales, Carmen Paredes, Rosa Elena Martinez, Christina Medina, Paco Mendoza, Veronica Cavazos, Ana Velia Navarro, Anna Holcomb, Xavier Villarreal, Nora Montes, Amparo Montes, Manuel Uribe, Beto Arambula, Dalia Arreola, Ismael Arreola, Norma Mendoza, Esmeralda Trevino, Rubi Zapata, Pedro Morales, Janet Villarreal, Teresa Rocha, Luis Lauro Gonzalez, Delia Mendoza and everyone else involved in these committees.
I tried to include all the organizations involved with this year’s fair but I do apologize in advance if I have inadvertently left someone out. Our goal is to have the Zapata County Fair be the highlight event of everyone’s year and I hope that we have succeeded in doing that. It has been a pleasure and an honor to have served as this year’s President of the County Fair Association. I hope that everyone enjoyed the 2010 Zapata County Fair but now it is about that time to start planning for 2011. One last thank you to everyone!!
Sincerely,
Monica Mendoza
2010 Zapata County Fair President
